Pool Removed and Hauled Away in Orange Park Florida

December 29, 2016

Arwood Waste -Demolished Swimming Pool at 2026 Sussex Dr Orange Park, Florida

FREE ESTIMATES: 904-751-1628

Image result for swimming pool removal cost

Happy Customer gives us a ***** star rating

We bought our home and the existing pool was on its last leg.  It needed new coping, tiles were missing and there were stains forming at the bottom due to the rebar working its way through. The pool was 18,000 gallons & was 18×30. Instead of spending 15k to remodel, we paid roughly half that cost to fill it in.  We hired AW to fill in our pool in. Due to his busy schedule, we waited a month for the work to begin.  Reese and Bruce explained the whole process in detail. I only had one other bid from a concrete guy that was referred to me by a friend which he ended up flaking on me so I hired Arwood Waste.

Swimming Pool Removal Facts for Orange Park, FL

Basic procedure for a complete inground swimming pool removal

  1. To completely demolish an in-ground swimming pool, the demolition contractor first starts by prepping the area and demolishing all of the concrete and reinforced steel around the pool.
  2. Next, the gaunite or fibre is removed and the pool is back filled with sand.
  3. The final step involves filling dirt into the pool opening and compressing it so that the sand is compact and ready to go for future construction and/or seeding.

What’s the cost of removing a swimming pool?

The cost of a swimming pool removal is directly related to your geographic location, size of the pool, type of pool (inground/above ground), type of demolition (complete or partial) and overall complexity of the project. Because there are so many factors, demolition costs can range anywhere from $5000 to $12,000. At Arwood Waste, we work with demolition contractors that offer free estimates; this is the best way to get an accurate idea of costs associated with your swimming pool removal.

Another pricing factor to consider would be whether or not your city requires any special permits for demolition work. Some cities have special requirements on the hauling of debris, what pool removal procedure can be used, and what type of sand can be used for back filling. Your demolition contractor will usually handle the permitting process and often include these costs in your estimate.

How to avoid becoming a victim of front loading

Front loading is when a pool removal contractor asks for an excessively high down payment prior to starting the work. This is a huge red flag! As an example, the contractor may ask for a 50 percent down payment, only perform a small amount of the work, and then abandon the project entirely…leaving you with an unfinished job and an empty wallet. Don’t be a victim of these types of scams! As a rule of thumb, never pay more than 10% of the total amount upfront.

Residential or commercial Demolition Services:

  • Garage demolition – attached garages, unattached garages, pole barns
  • Home demolition – demolish and remove an entire house
  • Building demolition – demolishing, salvaging and removal of nearly any residential building
  • Light commercial demolition – dismantling, recycling and removal of 1 – 2 story commercial buildings

Other Services:

  • Swimming pool demolition – inground swimming pool removal and fill-in
  • Structural demolition – home, garage, building

What is the process for demolition of a commercial building, house, garage, shed, or barn?

  1. Request an estimate or estimates from licensed and insured Orange Park demolition contractors. Demolishing a home, garage, or commercial building is not a simple project and requires the expertise of a professional demolition contractor to guide the process. During the estimate site visit, interview the contractor for qualifications, references, EPA certifications, and the process the demolition contractor would follow to knock down and remove the building.
  2. Apply for demolition permits and approval from local government authorities. Depending on your location, demolition permits may be required by the city, county, and/ or state. Your local municipality may also have regulations related to notifications, noise, hours of demolition, disposal of the debris, etc… Your hired demolition company should be well informed about local regulations and will often pull the permits on your behalf.
  3. Utilities need to be properly disconnected. Utility companies for gas, water, and electricity need to be contacted. All utilities need to be properly disconnected or terminated at the source prior to demolition. Again, coordinating this may be handled by your hired demolition company, but clarify upfront from the contractor all of the services that are provided.
  4. Older homes or buildings need to be inspected for hazardous materials like asbestos or lead paint prior to being demolished. If your home or building contains hazardous materials, proper procedures for abatement need to be followed. Your hired demolition contractor may offer this service or sub contract it to an environmental remediation specialist.
  5. Safely tear down the building. For one to three story structures like a shed, garage, or a home, demolition of the structure is usually achieved using large hydraulic equipment like cranes, excavators and/or bulldozers.
  6. Removal and disposal of demolition debris. Debris will be loaded onto trucks or into roll off dumpsters for hauling to recycling centers or landfills. Discuss the options of salvaging and recycling demolition materials with your hired demolition contractor.

  •     Pesticides
  •     Liquid paint and thinners

Household Battery Collection:  Please bring all of you Ni-Cd, lithium, button cell, and alkaline batteries to the Household Hazardous Waste Center at Rosemary Hill SWMF. The Center also accepts used automotive and boat batteries.

Used Oil Recycling:  According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), well over 200 million gallons of used motor oil are dumped into the environment by do-it-yourself oil changers, most of whom have not stopped to consider the potential consequences of their actions.

Help build a better tomorrow today! Here’s how you can contribute:

  •     Drain your oil and transfer it into clean, preferably reusable, containers… like milk jugs.
  •     Never mix used oil with other substances. Doing so not only makes recycling more difficult, it can be dangerous as well.
  •     We accept up to 5 gallons per visit at the Rosemary Hill SWMF or any of the County’s  ECCs (except Kingsley Lake).

Fluorescent Lamp Recycling (and other Mercury-containing devices):
Elemental Mercury (Hg), while present in very small quantities in these items, is a neurotoxin that can readily contaminate and accumulate in our environment whenever these lamps and devices are improperly disposed of.

Types of Hg-containing lamps and devices currently accepted:

  •     Fluorescent lamps and bulbs
  •     Thermostats and switches
  •     Thermometers and manometers
  •     High intensity discharge (HID)
  •     Metal halide
  •     Mercury vapor
  •     Low pressure sodium vapor
  •     High pressure sodium vapor

Proper handling procedures are:

  •     Do not throw lamps in trash.
  •     Do not tape lamps together.
  •     Place waste lamps in the container in which the replacement tubes or bulbs arrived, when practical.
  •     Store in a safe place to prevent breakage.
  •     Place broken bulbs into a heavy plastic bag.

How to identify household hazardous chemicals:

  • Corrosive – caustic – Can burn or destroy living tissue. Some examples include drain cleaners, oven cleaners, rug and upholstery cleaners, toilet bowl cleaners, and chlorine bleach.
  • Flammable/ignitable – Can be easily set on fire. Items such as oil-based paints, lacquer, paint strippers, thinners, and other solvents are in this category.
  • Toxic/poison – Capable of causing injury or death through ingestion, inhalation, or absorption. Some toxins can cause cancer, genetic mutations, or fetal harm. Examples include paint removal and thinner, oil-based paints, flea powders, and insect sprays.
  • Explosive – Can detonate or explode through exposure to heat, impact, or pressure. Examples include aerosols and metal polishes.
  • Reactive – May generate excess heat, noxious fumes, violent reactions, or explosions when mixed with some other substance, such as mixing ammonia and bleach.
  • Infectious – May cause disease in humans and animals. Examples include biomedical waste and used syringes.

Unincorporated Area Service Standards

Areas outside the Towns of Orange Park and Penney Farms and the Cities of Keystone Heights and Green Cove Springs

Renting a dumpster in Orange Park, FL

How to keep the weight of your roll-off dumpster load at a minimum

Debris like dirt, concrete, and household junk can pack on the pounds in your dumpster very quickly. Dumpster companies generally include a certain amount of weight in each rental and then charge more if the dumpster is overweight.  To avoid going over your weight allowance, here are two tips to minimize the total weight of your trash:

  1. Place a tarp over the dumpster when not in use, especially when it’s raining or snowing. Moisture can dampen debris and make it much heavier. You are responsible for this weight and could end up paying for it in the form of overage fees if you’re not careful.
  2. Reusable junk or debris, such as salvaged brick or still-working appliances, can be donated to local charities (e.g., Habitat for Humanity ReStores) or unloaded for free on Craigslist. This helps reduce the amount of weight in your dumpster.

Make sure you know the weight allowance for the particular dumpster you rented. Don’t overload the container or you will be susceptible to overage charges.

Is a necessary to obtain a dumpster permit from the city?

Typically, you need to obtain a dumpster permit in the event the container will be placed on the side of a city street or on the sidewalk.

When you have the dumpster placed on your private property, such as your driveway, usually no permit is necessary. To be sure you satisfy all of your city’s permitting requirements, discuss it with your dumpster service prior to delivery.

Stay Green When Planning Your Move With These Recycling Tips

May 23, 2016

Whether you’re headed to a new home or a new office, moving can have a big impact on the environment. After all, vast quantities of packing materials and boxes are used to transport your belongings from point A to point B, and much of those materials end up in landfills. Similarly, as you go through your belongings and decide what not to keep, you may end up discarding more than you thought. The good news is that there are ways to recycle your materials, minimize the impact of your move, and make sure your exciting transition is positive for both you and the environment! Here are some tips to consider.

Newspapers - Local Recycling Resources - Call toll free (888) 413-5105 for a free quote on recycling dumpster rentals, roll off dumpster rentals, and commercial dumpsters in your area.

1.Rethink cardboard boxes. Buying cardboard boxes is expensive and damaging to the environment. You may be able to rent plastic bins for moving, or else find cardboard boxes for free at local supermarkets or “big box” stores. Reusing old cardboard boxes is certainly better than buying new. Either way, be sure to recycle or repurpose the boxes after your move is complete.

2.You may already have packing materials! Sure, you could buy packing peanuts, bubble wrap, and other expensive materials that you’ll end up throwing away. But old towels, shirts, blankets, and newspaper will also do the trick of protecting your belongings during a move.

3.Donate unwanted items. When packing for a move, it’s common to find items that are simply not worth the trouble of transporting. But one person’s trash is another’s treasure, so consider donating unwanted belongings to a local Goodwill or Salvation Army. That’s better than seeing your old stuff end up in a landfill!

4.Consider a paper-shredding service. Some old documents and files just aren’t worth taking with you, especially if you have digital backups. This is particularly true for businesses. If you have file cabinets full of paper, consider a shredding service to securely shred and recycle your old documents.

5.Find a green mover. Not all movers are as conscientious about the environment as you are, so shop around to find a moving company with earth-friendly practices. Green movers may use fuel-efficient trucks, reusable furniture wraps, and plastic crates for transporting goods. You’ll feel good about your move, and you could even save money!

6.Choose the right waste management company. Businesses and even home owners on the move may be able to choose their waste management company. If so, you have the chance to find a company that cares about the environment as much as you do! When evaluating a waste management company, consider factors like cost, pick-up days, options such as recycling and yard waste pickup, and most importantly, a great reputation.

Cardboard - Local Recycling Resources - Call toll free (888) 413-5105 for a free quote on recycling dumpster rentals, roll off dumpster rentals, and commercial dumpsters in your area.

Whether you’re moving your home or office, you have the opportunity to plan a green move to be proud of. You can be sure Arwood Waste will do our part as your waste management company to ensure your unwanted materials are recycled with care and integrity.
